What we look for
The full disqualifier list is published on our promise page. Five of those criteria come up most often in bathroom products and are worth naming before the picks.
No synthetic fragrance. "Fragrance" on a personal care label is a trade-secret catchall that can conceal hundreds of individual chemicals, including phthalates. We require named ingredients throughout the formula.
No PFAS. Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and related fluoropolymers appear in dental floss coatings, sunscreen formulas, and some textile finishing treatments. These persistent compounds have been detected in human blood and tissue for decades. A product is not passing this gate based on marketing language; the chemistry has to be documented.

Is castile soap safe for all skin types?
Castile soap is made from vegetable oils without synthetic surfactants or preservatives. Why does natural deodorant not work as well at first?
Most natural deodorants work through odor control, not sweat suppression. Armpits contain apocrine glands that produce a substrate bacteria convert to odorous compounds.
