Bringing a newborn home triggers roughly 200 product decisions before the first diaper change. Most of those choices involve a short, recurring list of concerns: PFAS in soft goods and car seat fabric, polyester against skin, formaldehyde-releasing resins in textile finishes, undisclosed fragrance in wipes and skincare, and diaper creams with lead and cadmium contamination. This guide applies the same screen to all 14 categories a newborn actually encounters in the first several months.

How this was vettedLast reviewed October 2026

Every product was evaluated against the site's 15-point disqualifier list. For certified products, certifications were confirmed in the issuing registry (GOTS global-standard.org, MADE SAFE madesafe.org, GREENGUARD UL). For car seats and mattresses, PFAS documentation and flame-retardant disclosures were reviewed separately. Pacifiers and bottles were held to food-grade material documentation requirements.

Read the full criteria →

What we look for

No PFAS. Fluorinated water- and stain-resistant finishes appear in car seat fabric, mattress covers, and some swaddle treatments. GREENGUARD Gold certification closes this gap for car seats and is the most reliable screen. For textiles, GOTS prohibits the dye and finish chemicals most commonly associated with PFAS-adjacent treatments.

No polyester against skin. Onesies, sleepers, and swaddles in polyester or polyester blends are excluded. The concern is not the fiber itself but the undisclosed finish treatments that most polyester baby clothing carries. GOTS-certified organic cotton, merino wool, and linen are the pass categories here.

No formaldehyde-releasing resins. Easy-care and wrinkle-resistant finishes on baby clothing release formaldehyde over the life of the garment. These are prohibited under GOTS certification. Untreated organic cotton with a GOTS-verified supply chain is the alternative.

No undisclosed fragrance. The terms "fragrance," "parfum," and "natural fragrance" used as catchalls fail the screen. Named essential oils and specific aroma compounds are acceptable. The top picks here are fragrance-free across the board, which is the most defensible approach for newborn skin.

Zinc-free for diaper balm. We exclude zinc oxide-based diaper creams. Multiple rounds of independent consumer heavy-metal testing have found elevated lead and cadmium in mainstream zinc oxide formulations. The contamination comes from the ore, not from intentional use, but the outcome is the same on daily newborn skin contact. Zinc-free petrolatum, organic plant oils, and beeswax barrier formulations address the same function.

No PVC, no bisphenols. Bottles are glass or food-grade stainless steel. For silicone bottles and pacifiers, platinum-cured food-grade silicone documentation is required. "BPA-free" labels on ABS or polycarbonate products do not pass this screen, because bisphenol substitutes BPS and BPF carry similar concerns and are not screened by the BPA-free claim.

No PHMB in wipes. Polyhexamethylene biguanide is prohibited in EU leave-on cosmetics and restricted in rinse-off applications. Any wipe listing it is excluded.

Disposable Diapers

1. HealthyBaby Non-Toxic Disposable Diapers: Best overall

HealthyBaby Non-Toxic Disposable Diapers

The HealthyBaby Non-Toxic Disposable Diapers hold the only dual certification stack in this category: MADE SAFE (ingredient-level third-party screen of the full formulation) and EWG Verified (independent database review). The layer that contacts skin is certified organic cotton rather than the petroleum-based nonwoven used in standard disposables. The gel core is free of chlorine bleaching, and no fragrance or lotion is added.

Performance is consistent through overnight sleep without the super-absorbent polymer overload common in ultrathin designs. The fit at newborn weight is snug without the elastic-waist pressure common in some competitors.

2. Coterie The Diaper: Best premium diaper

Coterie The Diaper

The Coterie The Diaper is EWG Verified with no fragrance, no chlorine bleaching, and no optical brighteners. The outer layer is plant-derived rather than petroleum nonwoven, and overnight absorbency is exceptional at newborn weights. Coterie provides full ingredient transparency, which is what made EWG verification possible.

Coterie does not carry MADE SAFE certification because that process is brand-initiated and Coterie has not submitted, not because of a chemistry problem with the product. For families who want a single-certification premium option with better availability than HealthyBaby, this is the pick.

3. ECO by Naty Diapers Size 1: Best budget diaper

ECO by Naty Diapers Size 1

ECO by Naty Diapers are FSC-certified, with a corn-derived bioplastic film and chlorine-free pulp. No fragrance, no tributyltin, no elemental chlorine bleaching. The brand discloses its raw material supply chain on its manufacturing transparency page.

At roughly half the per-diaper cost of HealthyBaby, ECO by Naty is the budget-viable option that still clears the disqualifier list. Absorption is adequate for daytime use; overnight stretches may need a cover or more frequent changes in the early weeks.

Baby Wipes

4. HealthyBaby Wet Wipes Fragrance Free: Best wipes overall

HealthyBaby Wet Wipes Fragrance-Free

The HealthyBaby Wet Wipes carry both MADE SAFE and EWG Verified, with a short fully disclosed ingredient list: purified water, a plant-derived emulsifier, and organic aloe. No phenoxyethanol, no PHMB, no synthetic fragrance. The substrate is organic cotton, not polyester nonwoven.

Organic cotton substrate matters because wipes have prolonged wet contact with skin, and synthetic nonwoven fabrics can carry finish treatments that migrate. The MADE SAFE screen verifies the full formulation against a comprehensive hazard database.

5. WaterWipes Sensitive Plus Baby Wipes: Most minimal formulation

WaterWipes Sensitive+ Newborn & Baby Wipes

WaterWipes Sensitive Plus use a two-ingredient formula: purified water and a small amount of grapefruit seed extract as the only preservative. No synthetic fragrance, no fabric softeners, no PHMB. The substrate is viscose (wood-based cellulose), not polyester.

The tradeoff is shelf life. The preservative-minimal formula means the wipes dry out faster once opened. At newborn change frequency this is rarely a practical problem, but it is worth noting for families who stock ahead in bulk.

Onesies

6. Burt's Bees Baby Organic Cotton Bodysuit: Best everyday bodysuit

Burt's Bees Baby Organic Cotton Bodysuit

The Burt's Bees Baby Organic Cotton Bodysuit is GOTS certified (certificate CU 831717, verified in the Global Organic Textile Standard registry). GOTS prohibits formaldehyde-releasing resins, azo dyes that cleave to restricted arylamines, heavy metal mordants, and chlorine bleaching. The cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides and traced through the supply chain to the finished garment.

The envelope neckline and bottom-snap construction make diaper changes straightforward. Sizes run from newborn through 24 months. Sold individually and in multi-packs, which makes it practical to stock several for the first weeks when changes are frequent.

7. Under the Nile Organic Short Sleeve Bodysuit: Best fair-trade bodysuit

Under the Nile Organic Cotton Short Sleeve Bodysuit

Under the Nile Organic Short Sleeve Bodysuit is GOTS certified (ICEA-TX-3555), made from Egyptian organic cotton grown and processed in Egypt with published fair-trade working conditions. The brand has disclosed its full supply chain from farm to finished garment.

Egyptian long-staple cotton is noticeably softer than standard organic cotton. The bodysuit runs slightly generous, so the newborn size typically fits well through the first two months. Under the Nile does not use optical brighteners, which are prohibited under GOTS in any case.

Sleepwear

8. Burt's Bees Baby Organic Beekeeper Wearable Blanket: Best sleep sack

Burt's Bees Baby Organic Beekeeper Infant Wearable Blanket

The Burt's Bees Baby Organic Beekeeper Wearable Blanket is GOTS-certified organic cotton with double-layer construction and a bottom zipper for nighttime diaper changes without removing the sack entirely. The wearable blanket design keeps loose bedding out of the crib, consistent with AAP safe sleep guidelines.

The double layer runs warm, which is practical for winter but limits year-round versatility. A lighter single-layer option is useful alongside this for warmer months.

9. Woolino Merino Wool Baby Footie Pajamas: Best for temperature regulation

Woolino Merino Wool Baby Footie Pajamas

Woolino Merino Wool Baby Footie Pajamas are Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified. Merino wool regulates body temperature bidirectionally: it insulates when cold and stays comfortable in warmth, which means one garment style works across seasons without overheating. Wool is naturally fire-resistant at the fiber level and passes infant sleepwear flame standards without chemical treatment.

The Woolino footie covers newborn through 6-9 months in the smallest size (NB-6-9M), which spans most of the first year in one garment. Machine wash cold, gentle cycle.

Swaddle Blankets

10. Naturepedic GOTS Organic Cotton Waffle Baby Blanket: Best swaddle

Naturepedic GOTS Organic Cotton Waffle Baby Blanket

The Naturepedic GOTS Organic Cotton Waffle Baby Blanket is GOTS certified, made from organic cotton with a waffle-weave texture that adds warmth without thickness. Naturepedic publishes its GOTS certificate and the specific production facility. The blanket is free of formaldehyde resins, azo dyes, and synthetic finishes.

The waffle weave breathes better than fleece alternatives and holds up without pilling after repeated washing. The weight and texture make it suitable both as a swaddle and as a stroller or car seat blanket through warmer months.

11. aden+anais Organic Cotton Muslin Swaddle 4-Pack: Best classic muslin swaddle

aden + anais Organic Cotton Muslin Swaddle 4-Pack

aden+anais Organic Cotton Muslin Swaddle blankets are GOTS certified, with four blankets per pack. Muslin breathes extremely well, which supports newborn sleep temperature management. The 47x47 inch size provides enough fabric for a secure swaddle technique on an active newborn.

Muslin softens with each wash. These start slightly stiff out of packaging and improve significantly after the first few laundry cycles. Four in a pack provides enough rotation for the first weeks without daily washing.

Baby Bottles

12. Pura Kiki Stainless Steel Infant Bottle: Best stainless bottle

Pura Stainless Steel Infant Bottle

The Pura Kiki Stainless Steel Infant Bottle is MADE SAFE certified. The inner vessel is 304 food-grade stainless steel with no plastic lining. Nipples and seals are platinum-cured, food-grade silicone. There are no plastic components in the food-contact path.

The 9oz size fits standard bottle warmer baskets and works from birth through toddler age with nipple flow changes. The modular design accepts a straw top or sport spout as the child grows, which extends the investment across years.

13. Lifefactory 4oz Glass Baby Bottle: Best glass bottle

Lifefactory 4oz Glass Baby Bottle

The Lifefactory 4oz Glass Baby Bottle uses a borosilicate glass interior with a food-grade silicone protective sleeve and a platinum-cured silicone nipple. Borosilicate glass does not leach, tolerates repeated sterilization better than standard glass, and does not absorb odors or stain from formula or expressed milk.

The 4oz size is well-suited to newborn feeding volumes. Lifefactory discloses that its borosilicate glass is bisphenol-free by material composition, and the silicone components are verified food-grade.

14. Comotomo Natural Feel Baby Bottle 5oz: Best silicone bottle

Comotomo Natural Feel Baby Bottle, 5oz

The Comotomo Natural Feel Baby Bottle is 100% food-grade, platinum-cured silicone. No BPA, BPS, phthalates, PVC, or polycarbonate components. The nipple approximates breast tissue feel closely, which makes this the most commonly recommended bottle for introducing bottle feeding to a breastfed newborn.

Platinum-cured silicone is more completely polymerized than peroxide-cured, meaning lower residual monomer content in the food contact surface. FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 covers the use of silicone rubber in food contact applications. The 5oz size is appropriate from birth.

Pacifiers

15. Hevea Classic Natural Rubber Round Pacifier: Best natural rubber pacifier

HEVEA Classic Natural Rubber Round Pacifier

The Hevea Classic Natural Rubber Round Pacifier is one piece of natural rubber latex with no separate shield, no junction between nipple and base, and no plastic. Hevea is Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified. EU Council Directive 93/11/EEC, which restricts N-nitrosamines and N-nitrosatable substances in rubber soothers, is the applicable standard for this product category; Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification covers the same compound class. The round nipple shape is the oldest orthodontically recognized form.

Natural rubber latex does not carry the bisphenol and plasticizer chemistry concerns of conventional ABS and polypropylene pacifiers. For households with known latex sensitivities, the Ryan and Rose silicone pick below is the appropriate alternative.

16. Ryan & Rose Cutie PAT Pacifier Teether: Best silicone pacifier

Ryan & Rose Cutie PAT Pacifier + Teether

Ryan and Rose Cutie PAT Pacifier Teether is food-grade silicone, one-piece construction. The teether wings on the shield serve as a teether when the child starts mouthing, which extends the useful range of a single purchase. Ryan and Rose discloses food-grade, BPA-free silicone construction.

The silicone version is the correct choice for latex-sensitive households. Flow characteristics and nipple geometry are comparable to a standard round pacifier.

Diaper Rash Balm

17. La Petite Creme French Organic Diaper Balm: Best diaper balm

La Petite Creme French Organic Diaper Balm, 4 oz

The La Petite Creme French Organic Diaper Balm is USDA Certified Organic. The formulation is zinc-free: organic shea butter, organic sunflower oil, beeswax, and calendula create the barrier function. No parabens, no synthetic fragrance, no conventional preservative system beyond the naturally antimicrobial oils.

Zinc-free eliminates the lead and cadmium contamination concern that has surfaced in multiple rounds of consumer testing of zinc oxide diaper creams. The organic shea barrier works well for daily prevention and mild redness.

18. Motherlove Diaper Balm: Best herbal formula

Motherlove Diaper Balm

Motherlove Diaper Balm is USDA Certified Organic and zinc-free. The formulation uses calendula, chamomile, and St. John's wort in an organic olive oil and beeswax base. These botanicals have documented anti-inflammatory effects on irritated skin and are appropriate for use on broken-skin diaper rash.

Motherlove has a 30-year track record with a consistent ingredient list. The balm is thick enough to remain effective through wet diapers. The tin packaging reduces single-use plastic versus squeeze tubes.

Baby Wash

19. Earth Mama Simply Non-Scented Castile Baby Wash: Best unscented wash

Earth Mama Simply Non-Scents Castile Baby Wash

The Earth Mama Simply Non-Scented Castile Baby Wash is certified by NSF/ANSI 305 for personal care products made with organic ingredients. The surfactant system is plant-derived with no sulfates, no CAPB (cocamidopropyl betaine), no synthetic fragrance, and no PEGs. Earth Mama publishes full ingredient lists and does not use "natural fragrance" as a catchall.

Castile construction means the base is saponified plant oil rather than a petroleum surfactant. The wash rinses clean without residue and is suitable for the scalp as well as the body.

20. Evereden Baby Shampoo Body Wash Fragrance Free: Best gentle cleansing wash

Evereden Baby Shampoo & Body Wash Fragrance Free

Evereden Baby Shampoo Body Wash is EWG Verified. The formulation is free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde releasers, and synthetic fragrance. Evereden submits its ingredient deck to the EWG Skin Deep database for independent review.

The texture is lighter than the Earth Mama castile and rinses more easily from fine newborn hair. Both are appropriate picks; the choice often comes down to texture preference.

Baby Lotion

21. Pipette Baby Lotion Fragrance Free: Best everyday lotion

Pipette Baby Lotion, Fragrance Free

The Pipette Baby Lotion is EWG Verified. The key ingredient is sugarcane-derived squalane, which closely mimics the skin's own lipid barrier. No synthetic fragrance, no parabens, no sulfates, no petroleum-derived mineral oil. The full ingredient list appears in the EWG Skin Deep database.

Squalane absorbs faster than most plant oils without the greasiness that makes diaper changes difficult. The fragrance-free formulation removes the most common contact sensitizer in baby skincare.

22. Earth Mama Simply Non-Scented Baby Lotion: Best for sensitive skin

Earth Mama Simply Non-Scents Baby Lotion

Earth Mama Simply Non-Scented Baby Lotion is NSF/ANSI 305 certified organic. The formulation centers on organic shea butter and organic calendula with no PEGs, no sulfates, no mineral oil, and no synthetic fragrance.

The shea-calendula combination is well-suited to eczema-prone skin in the first months. The thicker consistency than Pipette means slightly more rubbing time but longer-lasting moisturization.

Crib Mattresses

We do not include individual crib mattress picks in this guide. The evaluation scope for mattresses (GREENGUARD Gold, GOTS, flame-retardant documentation, VOC off-gassing) warrants a dedicated guide. See the Best Non-Toxic Crib Mattresses guide for vetted picks across innerspring, foam, and dual-sided options.

The short version: look for GREENGUARD Gold certification at minimum, a documented flame-barrier using wool or another inherent material (not chemical FR), and avoid any mattress with undisclosed polyurethane foam.

Infant Car Seats

23. Chicco KeyFit Max ClearTex Infant Car Seat: Best GREENGUARD Gold car seat

Chicco KeyFit Max ClearTex Infant Car Seat

The Chicco KeyFit Max ClearTex Infant Car Seat holds GREENGUARD Gold certification, the most rigorous available standard for chemical emissions in indoor products. The ClearTex fabric was engineered without PFAS treatments, without PVC, and without brominated or chlorinated flame retardants. Most conventional infant car seat fabrics use PFAS-based stain resistance that is absent here.

The KeyFit Max covers 4 to 35 pounds, spanning the full infant carrier period for most children. The load leg stabilizes the base in a frontal collision and allows a flatter recline angle without raising the rear-facing angle. Compatible with major stroller travel systems.

24. Nuna PIPA rx Infant Car Seat: Best premium car seat

Nuna PIPA rx Infant Car Seat

The Nuna PIPA rx uses flame-resistant wool rather than chemical flame retardants, with Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified fabric. The ClearGuard fabric line is specified without added PFAS treatments, a claim Nuna supports with third-party test documentation. The PIPA rx integrates an anti-rebound bar, which provides meaningful additional protection beyond what most U.S. regulations require.

The carrier shell weighs 6.4 lb, among the lightest in this category. The integrated canopy extends to cover a full newborn head. Use to 32 lbs.

25. UPPAbaby MESA V3 Infant Car Seat: Best travel system integration

UPPAbaby Mesa V3 Infant Car Seat

The UPPAbaby MESA V3 uses a GREENGUARD Gold certified Merino wool blend as its primary fabric, free of chemical flame retardants. The GREENGUARD Gold certification requires third-party emissions testing covering VOCs, formaldehyde, and PFAS-related compounds. The one-step ISOFIX installation is easier to verify than latch-and-tighten systems.

The MESA V3 integrates natively with the UPPAbaby stroller ecosystem, which reduces adapter hardware for families already in that system. Use from 4 to 35 lbs.

Nasal Aspirators

26. Haakaa Penguin Nasal Aspirator: Best electric aspirator

Haakaa Penguin Nasal Aspirator

The Haakaa Penguin Nasal Aspirator is battery-powered with three suction levels and food-grade silicone tips. The nozzle-to-tip contact path is all silicone with no PVC or hard plastic against the nostril. Haakaa discloses food-grade silicone construction across all wetted parts.

Electric aspirators outperform bulb syringes for active congestion and are easier to manage one-handed. The components disassemble fully for sterilization and are dishwasher-safe on the top rack.

27. NoseFrida Snot Sucker Nasal Aspirator: Best manual aspirator

NoseFrida Snot Sucker Nasal Aspirator

The NoseFrida Snot Sucker is a manual oral-suction aspirator with a polypropylene body. A hygiene filter prevents liquid from reaching the mouthpiece; the parent's suction is the mechanism, giving direct control. NoseFrida discloses polypropylene construction, which is a food-contact-grade plastic free of BPA and phthalates.

Replacement hygiene filters are changed after each illness. The manual design gives precise suction control, which makes it consistently effective for newborn nasal congestion at any severity.

Baby Monitors

28. Infant Optics DXR-8 PRO Baby Monitor: Best video monitor

Infant Optics DXR-8 PRO Video Baby Monitor

The Infant Optics DXR-8 PRO uses a closed-circuit RF transmission rather than WiFi. The monitor and parent unit communicate directly without routing through a cloud server, which means the video feed is not internet-accessible and creates no cybersecurity exposure. The emission level is inherently lower than a WiFi camera streaming continuously.

Optical zoom and an interchangeable lens system give clear visibility across a full-size crib. The parent unit battery is sufficient for an overnight cycle. No smartphone app is required.

29. Bebcare Hear Digital Audio Baby Monitor: Best low-emission audio monitor

Bebcare Hear Digital Audio Baby Monitor

The Bebcare Hear Digital Audio Baby Monitor uses a low-emission digital transmission protocol that Bebcare states operates below the emission levels of a standard 2.4GHz DECT monitor. It is audio-only with no WiFi and no cloud routing. For families specifically concerned about wireless emissions in the nursery, this is the most intentionally designed product addressing that concern.

The parent unit shows ambient temperature and includes a nightlight. Audio range covers a typical house layout. No app required.

What we passed on

Zinc oxide diaper creams. This includes Desitin, Aveeno, and the zinc oxide versions from Burt's Bees Baby and other brands. Multiple rounds of independent consumer heavy-metal testing have found detectable lead and cadmium in zinc oxide diaper creams across brands and price points. The source is geochemical: zinc ore deposits naturally co-occur with lead and cadmium, and standard processing does not fully remove them. Because diaper cream is applied to a large body surface area daily from birth, the cumulative exposure calculation matters. Zinc-free alternatives provide the same barrier function.

PHMB wipes (Hello Bello, Pampers Aqua Pure, others). Polyhexamethylene biguanide is banned in EU leave-on cosmetics and restricted in rinse-off applications. Skin sensitization data and aquatic toxicity findings drove the EU restriction. U.S. brands continue to use it at unregulated concentrations. Any wipe listing PHMB or polyhexamethylene biguanide is excluded.

MAM, Mushie FRIGG, and Philips Avent pacifiers. Research from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in early 2026 tested seven leading pacifier brands, including several labeled BPA-free, and found bisphenol leaching at levels of concern in all seven products. The failure mode was plasticizer-additive migration from compounds not screened by BPA-only testing. Natural rubber and platinum-cured food-grade silicone alternatives do not show this leaching behavior.

Babo Botanicals Baby Wash. Confirmed presence of cocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB) in the formulation as of August 2026. CAPB is classified as a contact allergen by the EU Scientific Committee and is associated with sensitization on infant skin. Excluded from the baby wash recommendations.

Hanna Andersson sleepwear. The brand does not provide GOTS certification or equivalent third-party organic textile verification for its sleepwear line. Its "better cotton" sourcing claims do not carry chemical verification to the garment level. This does not make the garments actively harmful, but they do not meet the certification standard this guide requires.

FAQ

Are disposable diapers safe for newborns?

Most are not made with materials that pass out strict criteria, but some do and those are included. The main concerns are the petroleum-based nonwoven outer layer, elemental chlorine bleaching of the pulp core, and the addition of fragrance. HealthyBaby and Coterie address all three with third-party certification. ECO by Naty uses plant-derived materials without chlorine bleaching. Standard supermarket brands have not submitted to third-party ingredient certification and do not disclose full material compositions.

Why are zinc oxide diaper creams excluded?

The concern is heavy metal contamination from the zinc ore source. Lead and cadmium have been found at elevated levels in multiple rounds of consumer testing of mainstream zinc oxide formulations. The mechanism is geochemical: zinc ore deposits co-occur naturally with lead and cadmium, and standard zinc oxide processing does not fully remove them. Because diaper cream contacts a large skin surface area daily from birth, exposure accumulates meaningfully. Zinc-free formulations using shea butter, beeswax, and plant oil provide the same protective barrier without the mineral contamination concern.

What makes a baby wipe safe?

The key variables are preservative chemistry (PHMB excluded; phenoxyethanol at 0.5% or lower is generally accepted), fragrance (any undisclosed fragrance or catchall "natural fragrance" fails), and substrate (organic cotton or wood-based cellulose is preferable to polyester nonwoven with undisclosed finishes). WaterWipes avoids the preservative question entirely with an essentially two-ingredient formula.

What is GREENGUARD Gold and why does it matter for a car seat?

GREENGUARD Gold is a chemical emissions certification administered by UL. For a car seat, it requires testing for off-gassing VOCs including formaldehyde, and for PFAS content in the fabric. Most conventional car seat fabrics use PFAS-based stain resistance; GREENGUARD Gold requires the seat to pass without them. The difference matters in an enclosed vehicle where a young infant spends hours at a time. The Chicco KeyFit Max ClearTex and UPPAbaby MESA V3 are GREENGUARD Gold certified; the Nuna PIPA rx achieves equivalent chemistry goals through Oeko-Tex and Nuna's own PFAS documentation.

Are silicone baby products safe for newborns?

Food-grade, platinum-cured silicone is accepted under the disqualifier criteria here. The key distinction is curing mechanism: platinum-cured silicone is more completely polymerized than peroxide-cured, meaning less residual monomer migration into food or liquid. Both the Comotomo bottle and the Ryan and Rose pacifier use platinum-cured, food-grade silicone, and both brands provide documentation. The documentation to ask for is the food-grade silicone specification sheet and confirmation of cure method.
